Vibrant, inspirational and creative!
In this week's blog we would love to introduce Aleksandra Winters, who I had the pleasure to personally meet in New York City. We shared yummy vegan food and chatted about life, our vegan businesses and cruelty-free fashion.
Aleksandra Winters is the author of Raw Food Art: Four Seasons of Plant-Powered Goodness and Live Love Light and Fruits: The Rainbow Diet Around the World cookbooks.
She is an artist, a health and wellness coach, and an art educator. She is an intuitive chef and the founder of the healthy lifestyle brand, Olenko’s Kitchen.
Aleksandra’s passion for cooking and love of nature started a “revolution in the kitchen.”
Her goal is to help people take charge of their health by adopting a simple, natural way of living.

And now let's get to our Q & A! :)
What is your first memory related to fashion?
I remember going into my Polish grandmother's closet and wearing her necklaces and jewelry. I think I was like 4-5 years old. I loved playing dress ups for hours and pretending I wear makeup.
What does being vegan mean to you?
As Gary L. Francione says "Veganism is not about giving anything up or losing anything; it is about gaining the peace within yourself that comes from embracing nonviolence and refusing to participate in the exploitation of the vulnerable."
I try to be really aware of my everyday choices when it comes to my lifestyle - food, fashion, job, makeup, my home, car, etc...
How did you start your vegan journey, and at what point did you decide that your fashion choices should be vegan too?
I stopped eating meat as a young girl in Poland. My grandparents were farmers and as a little girl I realized I can't eat my animal friends.
I love animals so much. Chickens were the reason I stopped eating meat many years ago. I was first vegetarian and became vegan 8 years ago.
I eat a high raw diet, I called it a rainbow diet. You can find more information about the lifestyle I promote on my website www.olenkoskitchen.com
How do you incorporate ethical fashion in your life? Where is it most visible and present?
I love anything that is recycled and upcycled. I wear vegan handbags, shoes, I got a new car without leather seats.
I buy organic, ecological and ethical clothes for myself and my husband. I educate my friends and family about crudity free fashion and choices. My life motto is "Compassion is the new fashion".
I use vegan and cruelty free makeup, skin care and cleaning products. Animals are my friends and they should be all treated with love and kindness.
What are your favorite vegan fashion and beauty brands?
For beauty I love Pacifica, Hush and Dotti, Tarte, Acure. I have many vegan handbags by Big Buddha, Wilby.
How would you define your style?
Eclectic, ethnic, artsy, yet simple and comfortable.
I love colors - but blue and purple are my favorite colors. I have many interesting accessories and jewelry from around the world. I love handmade clothes and ethical jewelry.
Do you have role models? Who are they and why?
Dalai Lama, Mother Teresa, Gandhi, my Polish grandmother Zofia. They are teaching me about compassion, forgiveness and love.
Do you follow any ethical/vegan fashion bloggers? You have any favorites?
My beautiful Las Vegas friend Ashley from ashleydiana.com
What is your vision/next big step in your business?
I would love to have a store to make and sell commercially my raw vegan chocolates and desserts.
What do you do in your free time?
I love anything to do with nature, such as gardening, hiking, sun, beach, flowers, animals.
I also love painting, dancing and traveling. Spending time with my husband Bill and our cats.
Words you live by?
"Be the change you want to see in the world"~ Mahatma Gandhi
